IFC staining of CYP11B2 and GJA1 was performed on serial sections of the same adrenal shown in Extended Data Fig. 5. IFC staining is color-coded as indicated in image. GJA1 expression in APM regions was lower compared to adjacent adrenal cortex. Annular GJs (red arrows) were present in APM.
