Extended Data Table 1 Composition of participant vaccination groups

From: Variants and vaccines impact nasal immunity over three waves of SARS-CoV-2

  1. Participants within the Delta and Omicron variant groups (total n = 54) were assigned as unvaccinated or vaccinated if they had previously received a SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. Participants were grouped by variant and vaccination status (Delta unvaccinated: n = 19, Delta vaccinated: n-14, Omicron unvaccinated: n = 10, Omicron vaccinated: n = 11). Age (Delta: p = 0.006, Omicron: p = 0.0022), biological sex, ethnicity, self-reported race, COVID-19 severity (WHO scores at time of sample collection and at peak disease), body mass index (BMI), pre-existing conditions (IBD: inflammatory bowel disease), COVID-19 treatments (Remdesivir: p = 0.023), and mortality rates were compared across vaccination groups within variants. For continuous variables, median and interquartile range (IQR) are presented and two-sided Kruskal-Wallis test with Benjamini-Hochberg correction for multiple comparison was used for statistical comparison. #Dunn post-hoc test relative to unvaccinated group within same variant, p < 0.05; For categorical variables, percent and number of participants in variant group belonging to listed sub-group are presented and a chi-squared test was used for comparison. ^chi-square standardized Pearson residual >2. *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.001, otherwise non-significant.
