Group differences in circuit-level overlap were evaluated with respect to two empirical null models (see Extended Data Fig 3 for details). (a) and (b) show cortical surface renderings of regions with significantly greater overlap in cases compared to controls in areas functionally coupled to extreme deviations identified using group-based or spatial permutation tests, respectively (light blue corresponds to \({p}_{{uncorrected}} < .05\), dark blue corresponds to \({p}_{{FDR}} < .05\), two-tailed, cases<controls).
