Schematic representation of the differential role of the CA-NTD and CA-CTD in the assembly of immature HTLV-1 particles, compared to other retroviruses with known immature structures (using HIV-1 as an example). In the case of HTLV-1, immature lattice interactions are driven by the CA-NTD, while the CA-CTD drives particle formation in HIV-1.
