Scheme of the study design. 24 serum samples from all 6 face transplant patients representing no-rejection (n = 13), nonsevere rejection (n = 5) and severe rejection (n = 6) were included into the SOMAscan analysis. Severe rejection episodes required steroid bolus or other more potent drugs for resolution. Nonsevere rejection episodes were reversed by maintenance immunosuppression adjustment and/or topical therapy only.
