Comparison of the simulated and experimental INS spectra for toluene. The simulated partial spectra are also shown, corresponding to contributions from each level of excitations. For example, [0- > 1] means fundamental excitations. [0- > 2] means two-phonon excitations. W[0- > 1] refers to the phonon wing from fundamental excitations, etc. The experimental spectrum is offset vertically for clarity of the figure.
