Validation of calibrated TanDEM-X height estimates using airborne LiDAR (ALS) data. Validation based on all sites (A,B) and from 6 locations (C,D), with one-to-one (top) and residual error (bottom) plots shown. The aggregate datasets show a positive bias (~2-4 m) in the TanDEM-X height estimates in the 10–20 m height interval compared to the ALS heights, with all other heights being relatively unbiased. Australia, Mozambique, and Puerto Rico show an error trend that increases with height, while other sites were nearly unbiased.
