Normalised mitochondrial gene expression in cells expressing mitochondria-targeted M.SssI or M.CviPI. Expression of five (a,b) or six (c,d) mitochondrial genes (mtND1, mtND6, mtCOX1, mtCYTB, 12S rRNA and 16S rRNA) was determined in stable cell lines of C33A (a) or HCT116 (b) cells expressing mitochondria-targeted M.SssI (MLS-M.SssI) or empty vector control (MLS-NoED), and C33A (c) or HCT116 (d) cells expressing mitochondria-targeted M.CviPI (MLS-M.CviPI) or wild-type cells (wt). Each bar shows the mean ± SEM of three independent experiments.
