Silk solution was ultrasonicated to initiate the formation of β-sheet structure. Meanwhile, the solution was mixed with osteogenic cells, and the well-mixed solution was added dropwise to a silk scaffold. After gelation, the cell-carrying silk scaffold was ready for implantation to repair rat calvarial defects.
