Examples of the stimuli used during the habituation and the test phases of Experiments 1 and 2. The shapes within each triplet were presented sequentially on the screen, from left to right in Experiment 1, and from right to left in Experiment 2. Half of the infants in each experiment were habituated to ABB rule-like sequences, whereas the other half were habituated to ABA rule-like sequences.
