The nutrient-deficiency and hypoxia promoted the invasion ability of tumor cells. (A) The tumor cells were seeded on the upper chamber of the transwell system, and cultured in full medium or serum-free medium (to mimic nutrient deficiency). The lower chamber was filled with full medium, making sure that the solution touches the bottom surface of the upper chamber; (B) The transwell assay was performed in normoxia or hypoxia (1% O2) incubator. The number of cells that invade into the lower chamber was counted after incubation for 24 h (n = 6).
