The insert figure shows the additional grounded holes discussed here, which are marked as white circles. These grounded holes are not used in the proposed antenna shown in Fig. 2, which is only used to show the operation principle of the structure. The distance of these holes are fixed and the same as the grounded hole on the short edge in Fig. 2. Normalized radiation patterns in xz plane, yz plane, and xy plane at 5.8 GHz versus number m are shown in (b–d), respectively. With the increasing of grounded holes, radiation on x-direction decreases. (e) Electric field distribution at 5.8 GHz in the case of m = 7. The equivalent magnetic current is marked in the figure. In the calculation, the ground is set as infinite.
