After the sample is extracted from the patient, it is mixed with the ampicillin-biotin conjugate (1.) and incubated in the biosensor’s immobilization section (2.). After applying the avidin-GOx enzyme, the electrochemical read-out of the sensor completes the measurement (3.), resulting in an allover sample-to-result time of less than 1 hour.
