Growth curve analysis. The parasitemia in standard blood stage cultures of strains Δaop#1-3 from Fig. 4 was determined by counting parasites from Giesma-stained blood smears. Wild type strain 3D7 served as a control. All data are the mean ± standard deviation of triplicate measurements for each strain. None of the differences between the parasitemias was found to be significant (p > 0.05) based on statistical analyses in SigmaPlot 12.5 using the one way ANOVA method.
