Niño3.4 index is defined as SSTA averaged in (5°S–5°N, 120°–170°W), WWV index as D20 anomaly averaged in (5°S–5°N, 120°E–80°W), and tilt index as D20 anomaly difference between means in the east (5°S–5°N, 80°–160°W) and west (5°S–5°N, 120°E–160°W).
