Experimental task. Panel A visualizes an example of an intact and scrambled point light display (PLD) stimulus. In the explicit task condition, participants were instructed to indicate as fast and accurate as possible whether the presented PLD represented ‘a person’ or ‘not a person’. In the implicit task condition, participants were instructed to indicate color changes in the moving dots (at a random time point, one dot briefly changed color to either ‘red’ or ‘green’). Panel B visualizes performance scores (accuracy/reaction time) for the explicit and implicit task condition, separately for each group (TC, ASD).
