Administration of recombinant AIM reduced macrophage infiltration in AIM −/− mice of the zymosan-induced peritonitis model. (a,b) We assessed the expression of F4/80, iNOS, CD206 and Ly6B2 using immunohistochemistry. Recombinant AIM (rAIM) suppressed F4/80-positive macrophage infiltration at 4 weeks in zymosan model AIM −/− mice when compared with control group. In addition, iNOS and Ly6B2 positive cells were significantly suppressed in the AIM treatment group. In contrast, CD206 expression was higher in the AIM treatment group. Right picture shows higher magnifications of the images in the boxed areas of the left picture, respectively. The nuclei were counterstained with DAPI (blue color). (c) We assessed the expression of IL-6 and TNF-α using real-time PCR.
