Autophagy impairment in podocytes of patients with idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN). Immunofluorescent analysis showing large accumulations of p62 protein (green) in podocytes of patients with IMN. The podocytes in glomeruli were identified by immunofluorescent double-labeling with synaptopodin (red), a podocyte foot process-specific protein. The nuclei were stained with DAPI (blue). Images were obtained using a confocal microscope. Scale bar, 25 μm.
