From: The Role of PGE2 in Alveolar Epithelial and Lung Microvascular Endothelial Crosstalk

Lung ATII cells express COX-2 and COX-1. Lung sections from healthy, specific pathogen-free BALB/c mice were stained with an antibody detecting (a) COX-2 or (d) COX-1 (red) followed by immunodetection of (b,e) pro-surfactant protein C, a marker of type II alveolar epithelial cells (green). The samples were counterstained (c,f) with DAPI in order to visualize the nuclei. The overlays show that (c) COX-2 as well as (f) COX-1 is expressed in ATII cells (e.g. arrows).
