Changes in the nasal cavity 1 day after LPS administration. (a) Protocol for intranasal administration of LPS or saline. To cause acute rhinitis, mice received a single intranasal administration of LPS or saline and sacrificed at 1 day after the administration (Day 1). (b) A coronal section of the immunofluorescently stained OM shows accumulation of Ly-6G-positive cells (green) particularly in the lateral part of the LPS-treated nasal cavity. AC III immunoreactivity (red) is weaker in the lateral part of the LPS-treated OE. All nuclei are stained with DAPI (blue). Scale bar, 1 mm.
