Production of BMP-2 by hBMSCs encapsulated in gene-activated hydrogel scaffolds. Conditioned medium was collected from culture day 4–8 and assayed for BMP-2 by ELISA. The results showed BMP-2 production only in cultures of the BMP group. **p < 0.01.
