Comparison of sodium nitrite and nitrate in HBSS. (a) Solutions of 10 mM sodium nitrite and sodium nitrate in HBSS were assessed for absorption at wavelengths reaching from UV-C into the infra-red, with an inset expanded view of the UV region. (b) Solutions of 10 mM sodium nitrite and nitrate with increasing doses of UV-A in the presence of DAF-FM. Results are expressed as % change in fluorescence relative to unexposed control.
