Number of contacts between the H3 tail and different segments of DNA. The Y axis shows the accumulated number of contacts. Different colors represent the contacts with different parts of the DNA. Green: H3 tail – DNA arm 1–5 bp. Yellow: H3 tail – DNA arm 6–10 bp. Purple: H3 tail – DNA inner gyre. Contact is defined as a distance between non-hydrogen atoms of less than 0.35 nm. The calculation was done for H3 tails in copy 2.
