Schematic of the LOV domain photocycle (B): Upon blue-light absorption in the dark state (LOV450), the excited singlet state of FMN is formed. After conversion to the excited triplet state (LOV715), a covalent flavin-cysteine adduct is formed (LOV390), which recovers back to LOV450 in the dark.
