The ion concentration polarization (ICP) preconcentrator-integrated sensor system with interdigitated microelectrode (IME) enabled the detection of Aβ. (a) Preconcentrator, molecule preconcentration scheme, and molecular sensing; (b) biomolecular sensor using the IME sensor (electrical sensor); (c) ICP preconcentrator-embedded IME sensor. Fluidic layer 1 (sample reservoir and ion-permselective materials for ICP), fluidic layer 2 (sample delivery to the IME and ICP), and electrical sensor for Aβ detection; (d) performance enhancement utilizing the ICP preconcentrator-embedded IME sensor.
