Representative EPR spectra of (a) [DMPO-OH]• and (b) [DMPO-COO−]• adduct (# and §, respectively) obtained from (a) pristine crocidolite and (b) pristine tremolite fibres recorded after 60 min of incubation with H2O2 and HCOO− as target molecules, respectively. Ascorbyl radical (*) was observed in b as the reaction mixture was added with ascorbic acid as reducing agent.
