Hierarchical 2, 4 and 8 cluster analysis in the fingerprint Raman shift region (700–1800 cm−1) of one tissue sample (29F3). A colour coded image of the Raman scan area region of interest (ROI) is given above each Raman spectra diagram. The colours were assigned from the cluster analysis, which grouped all 4096 local spectra into 2, 4 or 8 groups according to similarities. Therefore, the colours reflect local differences in Raman spectra across the region of interest. For instance, the red Raman spectra is found at locations coloured in red, the grey Raman spectra is found at locations coloured in grey, and so forth. The grey spectra represent the surrounding tissue and the other colours the feature. Image size 30 × 30 µm.
