The sub-diffraction resolution of STED reveals the presence of MPS. (e, f) Representative profiles of the MPS obtained averaging 10 profiles of STED (e) and STORM (f) images. Both average profiles are satisfactorily fit using equation (1), with P = 6 and TMPS = 190 nm.
