A (3) watch glass placed on top of the cuboid cage separated the latter from a cylindrical shape cage containing three leaf discs as well as one G. fossarum. (b) The different exposure scenarios were realized by manipulating the position of THI-free (C) and THI-contaminated (THI) leaf discs in these cages. While the waterborne and combined exposure scenario used a semi-static regime, the dietary exposure scenario was realized using a flow-through system that kept THI water concentrations at negligible levels.
