Silencing of VHL induces expression of HIF-1α and increases expression of hypoxia-regulated piRNAs. A549 cells were treated for 48 hours with non-targeting siRNA (NT), siRNA targeting VHL, or siRNA targeting VHL and three siRNA constructs targeting HIF-1α. (A) DQ590404 and (B) DQ596992 piRNA expression is increased by VHL knockdown in a HIF-1α dependent manner.
