Figure 1

Chronic treatment with DiOHF normalizes systolic blood pressure, body weight and improves endothelial function in mice treated with tunicamycin. (A) Systolic blood pressure (SBP) and (B) body weight measured in all groups of C57BL/6 J mice that were or were not treated with intra-peritoneal injection of tunicamycin (Tunica, 1 mg/kg, 2 injections/week for two weeks), and the selected group was either treated with DiOHF only (10 mg/kg/day) or treated with tunicamycin plus DiOHF or TUDCA (150 mg/kg/day). (C) The impaired ACh-induced endothelium-dependent relaxation was prevented by co-treatment with DiOHF or TUDCA. (D) SNP-induced endothelium-independent relaxations in all aortic rings were not affected. Results are mean ± SEM of 6–8 separate experiments. #P < 0.05 vs control, Bonferroni’s Multiple Comparison Test, ##P < 0.01 vs control, Bonferroni’s Multiple Comparison Test. ###P < 0.001 vs control, Bonferroni’s Multiple Comparison Test. *P < 0.05 vs tunica, Bonferroni’s Multiple Comparison Test. **P < 0.01 vs tunica, Bonferroni’s Multiple Comparison Test. ***P < 0.001 vs tunica, Bonferroni’s Multiple Comparison Test.
