Effects of curcumin and imatinib on the proliferation of K562 cells in vitro. (A,B) K562 cells (3 × 105 cells/mL) were cultured in the presence of curcumin (0, 25, 50, and 75 μM) for 3 days, and curcumin was then removed from the medium. Cells were enumerated every day using the trypan blue staining method. Results for viable (A) and dead (B) cells are shown. (C) K562 cells were cultured in the presence of curcumin (50 μM) and imatinib (IM, 7.5 μM) for 2 days, and the compounds were then removed from the medium. Cells were enumerated at the indicated times. The results are the average of three independent experiments (means ± SD).
