The percentage of labelled K37:2 alkenones from Emiliania huxleyi cells grown at 25 °C (left) were compared with the percentages of labelled K37:2, K37:3, and K37:2 + K37:3 alkenones from E. huxleyi cells transferred to 15 °C on day 3 (right). Red, blue and black lines are 13C-K37:2, 13C-K37:3 and 13C-[K37:2 + K37:3] as percentages of the total C37 alkenones, including all 12C- and 13C-labelled C37 alkenones.
