Lipid solubilization assay. ELKs dissolved in PBS or just PBS were continuously mixed with 0.1 mg/ml DMPC (a) and a mixture of natural lipids (b). Turbidity was monitored by measuring the absorption at 432 nm every 5 seconds for 50 min and changes were expressed relative to H2O. A sample with 1% Triton X-100 and an untreated sample were included in (a) and (b) as positive and negative control, respectively, and used to calculate % hemolysis.
