Ultrastructural analysis of alcohol-induced damage in the hippocampus of adolescent rats. Adolescent rats were treated with alcohol and processed as described in Fig. 1. The ultrastructure of the hippocampus was analyzed by electron microscopy (EM). A representative EM image shows damaged neurons (arrow in Fig. 3 middle) and activated microgila in the granular layer of the dentate gyrus (arrow in Fig. 3 right). Bars = 2 μm.
