A set of orthographically projected channeling patterns for the grains displayed is shown. The true data for each grain is a real 3D dataset and thus has none of the distortion characteristic of EBSD. Thus, we can project our data down to two dimensions in many ways depending on the purpose (stereographic for indexing, or orthographic for intuitive visualization). For small grains we still have sufficient SNR to resolve many bands. In addition, the large field of view enabled by a stage-rocked channeling pattern means that every pattern has enough bands (>3) to enable an accurate indexing.
