MALAT1 upregulation is associated with increased inflammatory markers in the vitreous of diabetic patients. RT-qPCR analyses of the vitreous humors indicate that diabetic patients have elevated expressions of (A) MALAT1, (B) TNF-α, and (C) IL-6 transcripts (data expressed as a ratio to β-actin (mean ± SD); *P < 0.05 and **P < 0.01, compared to control vitreous).
