Phase diagrams showing the transitions of spheroidal chiral swimmers between unimodal (UM) and bimodal (BM) phases as flow factor n F (representing imposed flow strength) and angular speed Γ (due to chirality) are varied along vertical and horizontal axes of the phase diagrams, respectively; (a) phase diagrams for two different particle aspect ratios: λ = 4 (the reference situation) and λ = 10; (b) phase diagrams for two different swimmer self-propulsion strengths, represented by swim Péclet numbers Pe s  = 0.25 and Pe s  = 0.125 (corresponding to swim speeds V s  = 2 μm/s, the reference value, and V s  = 1 μm/s, respectively). In both phase diagrams, the dimensionless parameter ξ of the system governing equation 1 is fixed at ξ = 0.1.
