Immunostaining of bEnd.3 monolayer with ZO-1 antibody. bEnd.3 monolayers were exposed to 1 hr of 10 cm H2O hydrostatic pressure gradient (Jv), or 1 hr of 10 cm H2O hydrostatic pressure gradient +10 min of DCS (DCS). Afterwards the monolayers were immunostained for the TJ protein ZO-1 (red). The nucleus was counterstained with DAPI (blue). No damage to the monolayer integrity was observed after DCS. These images were also used to estimate the length of the junction per unit area (Ljt in Table 1).
