Pre-scanning results of a mouse brain: (a,b) Photographs of the mouse brain stained by fluorescent dye (DiI). Optical transparency of the brain was enhanced by an optical clearing agent (SeeDB). Measurements were performed near the position indicated by the blue arrow in (a). Relationship between the area of the excitation light passing through the sample surface and the size of the sample when the observation was performed in (c) shallow regions and (d) deep regions. The yellow circle indicates the area through which the excitation light passes and the red dotted box indicates the range of pre-scanning.
