Interactions between alkaloids and liposomes evidenced by ITC experiments. Upper panels: raw data from ITC experiments. Each peak corresponds to a single injection of 10 µL of a 10 mM PLPC-PLPG (molar ratio 4:1) LUV suspension into a solution containing (A) 10 µM gramine and (B) 10 µM hordenine at 26 °C. LUV suspension and alkaloid solutions were buffered at pH 6.15 with MES – NaOH. Lower panels: cumulative heat of binding (Σδhi) as a function of the lipid concentration in the cell (C0L). The solid line corresponds to the best fit using eq. 1. From this fit, the partition coefficient K is determined for each alkaloid (fitting uncertainty in brackets).
