  1. The minimal adequate least squares regression model was determined using step-wise deletion of least significant terms based on improvement of Akaike’s information criterion (AIC). Predictor variables in the full model were potential evapotranspiration seasonality [PET (sd)], growing degree-days with 0 °C base (GDD), aridity index, and temperature seasonality [Temp (sd)]. Phylogenetic correlation (on a scale of 0 to 1) is given by λ.
