  1. *One liter of the metals solution contained: 11 g CaCl2·2H2O, 1.5 g FeCl3·6H2O, 0.15 g H3BO3, 0.03 g CuSO4·5H2O, 0.18 g KI, 0.12 g MnCl2·4H2O, 0.06 g Na2MoO4·2H2O, 0.12 g ZnSO4·7H2O, 0.15 g CoCl2·6H2O, and 10 g EDTA. NaHCO3 was added to keep the alkalinity in the range of pH = 7.0 ± 0.5.
