Effect of AaL on biofilm formation by Acinetobacter baumannii (A) and cell density (B) Biofilm was quantified using crystal violet staining and amount of biofilm is expressed as absorbance (550 nm). The cell density is a measure of cell growth in suspension measured as absorbance at 600 nm. The inactive mutant of the lactonase SsoPox (5A8) containing 10 mutations (V27G/P67Q/L72C/Y97S/Y99A/T177D/R223L/L226Q/L228M/W263H) and Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) were used as negative controls while quorum sensing inhibitor (QSI) 5-fluoro-uracil has been used as positive control. Data shown are average of three independent experiments with 4 technical replicates each (n = 12), error bars represent the standard deviation. Student t-test results are shown (A) between data for biofilm formed with different doses of AaL and data for biofilm formed in presence of the inactive lactonase 5A8.
