Statistically significant differences were observed in capsaicin treated groups when compared with the control groups (***P < 0.001, **P < 0.01). For each treatment, measurements were made at each time interval on a separate group of animals following ocular exposure to 50 µg/ml of capsaicin. Results showed significant upregulation of specific proinflammatory cytokine levels thereby indicating their aid in the inflammatory cascade.
