Biosynthesis of non-essential amino acids from glucose seems to be enhanced in CD36KO-TAC hearts. (A) Steady state levels of non-essential amino acids in hearts. Hearts were isolated after a 12 h fast for metabolome analysis (n = 5–7). Glutamate (Glu), aspartate (Asp), glutamine (Gln) and asparagine (Asn) can be generated from metabolites in the TCA cycle. Alanine (Ala) and serine (Ser) can be produced from glycolytic intermediates. (B) Glu/α-KG, glutamate/α-ketoglutarate ratio (n = 5–7). (C) Tracer study with 13C6-glucose.
