Model. During their transcription, intronless nascent mRNAs associate with numerous RNA-binding proteins like the cap-binding complex (CBC), the nuclear poly(A)-binding protein (PABPN1), and some spliceosome components such as the SRSF3 protein. In the absence of EB2, the association of the splicing factor SRSF3 to newly synthesized mRNAs led to the recruitment of the RNA exosome via the NEXT complex, and consequently to their degradation in the nucleus. In the presence of EB2, EB2 stabilizes these intronless mRNAs in the nucleus and then allow their export to, and translation, in the cytoplasm.
