From: First- and second-order contributions to depth perception in anti-correlated random dot stereograms
A second-order binocular energy model. The monocular energy responses are calculated separately for each eye. The first-order filtering responses are squared and summed, to produce monocular energy responses (ER1 and EL1). This forms the input to the second order filters where the pairs of monocular filters are summed, squared and combined to calculate the second-order binocular energy response.
