The probability distributions considered for the absolute waiting time are shown in panel (b). Every waiting time distribution, G, in panel (b) has the same mean, \({\delta }^{-1}=1s\), but different shape. The value K refers to the shape parameter of the gamma distribution (\(K=1\) corresponds to the exponential distribution). We have considered \(N=4\), \({\lambda }_{k}=0.2{s}^{-1}\) and \({\mu }_{k}=0.1{s}^{-1}\) for all k in Fig. 4, for illustrative purposes.
