The crack location as the location of \({\varepsilon }_{yy}^{max}\) at various times shows some movement of the tip perpendicular to the direction of propagation. The location is the maximum of the vertical strain. The ~0.1 mm discretization in DIC is seen as steps in the figure. The y-coordinate is measured from the lower left corner of the DIC image area.
